Summary
A "same-day turnover" is when one reservation checks out and another checks in on the same day. Some hosts want to avoid this to have a full day to prepare the listing.
Host Tools lets you prevent same-day turnovers automatically with two pricing rules: one that blocks check-out the day a reservation begins, and one that blocks check-in the day every reservation ends. Once both rules are saved, Host Tools prevents any same-day turnovers as bookings come and go.
Creating the two turnover-buffer rules
You'll create two calendar rules per listing — one for each side of the reservation. For an introduction to calendar rules, see How do I create a pricing rule?.
Block check-ins the day a reservation ends
Click Pricing in the header menu.
Choose the listing you want to add the rule to.
Click the blue Add Rule button underneath the pricing graph.
In the Rule Type drop-down, choose After a Reservation.
In the Days After Reservation field, enter 1.
In the Pricing Action drop-down, choose Block Check-in.
In the Availability drop-down, choose Blocked.
Click Save.
Block check-outs the day a reservation starts
Click Add Rule again on the same listing.
In the Rule Type drop-down, choose Before a Reservation.
In the Days Before Reservation field, enter 0.
In the Pricing Action drop-down, choose Block Check-out.
In the Availability drop-down, choose Blocked.
Click Save.
Going forward, every time a reservation is booked, check-in and check-out will be blocked on the calendar — guaranteeing a turnover-day buffer. You can see this on your Host Tools calendar with the "unbookable nights" warnings. When you hover over these warnings, it will show you why the nights are unbookable, but available.

What about existing back-to-back bookings?
These rules only affect future availability. If you already have two reservations checking in and out on the same day, those reservations stay in place — the rules will start protecting the calendar from new same-day bookings going forward.
