How do I upload a profile picture?

How to upload, crop, and remove a custom profile picture on your Host Tools account, including where it appears (header, direct booking site Meet the Host section).

Written by Tom Krones

Summary

Give your Host Tools account a personal touch by uploading a custom profile picture. Your photo appears in the header, anywhere your avatar shows across Host Tools, and in the Meet the Host section of your direct booking site. You can crop the image before saving, and remove it at any time to revert to your default avatar.

Uploading your profile picture

  1. Click your profile picture in the upper right-hand corner and choose Settings.

  2. Go to Settings > Profile.

  3. Click Upload Photo under the profile picture section.

  4. Select an image file from your device. Supported formats are JPEG and PNG, with a maximum file size of 1 MB.

  5. Use the crop tool to frame the part of the image you want to display, then click Save.

Your new profile picture will appear immediately across Host Tools.

⚠️ Important: Profile pictures must be JPEG or PNG and no larger than 1 MB. Files larger than 1 MB will be rejected before upload.

Removing your profile picture

  1. Go to Settings > Profile.

  2. Click Remove Photo next to your current profile picture.

Your profile will revert to the default avatar (based on your email address via Gravatar) once the photo is removed.

Why isn't my photo showing after upload?

Try refreshing the page. If the photo still doesn't appear, check that the file was under 1 MB and in JPEG or PNG format. Uploading a file outside those requirements will silently reject the upload without displaying an error in some browsers.
