Summary

You can send a video to an Airbnb guest straight from your Inbox, on the web or in the Host Tools app. Videos your Airbnb guests send you also play right inside the conversation.

Sending a video

  1. Open the Airbnb guest's conversation in your Inbox.

  2. Click the image button in the message box, or drag your video file into the message box. In the Host Tools app, tap the photo button and choose a video from your library.

  3. Wait for the video to finish uploading. You can type a message to go with it.

  4. Click Send.

💡 To send videos from your phone, make sure you have the latest version of the Host Tools app installed.

Video requirements

These limits match what Airbnb accepts in its messaging:

  • Format: MP4 (.mp4) or MOV (.mov)

  • Size: 100 MB or smaller

  • Length: 60 seconds or shorter

  • One video per message. A message can hold up to 5 attachments in total, so you can send one video alongside photos.

If a file doesn't meet these limits, Host Tools tells you why when you add it, so you can pick a different file or trim the video first.

Watching videos in a conversation

Videos in a conversation show as a thumbnail with a play button. Click it to watch the video in a larger player. In the Host Tools app, the video opens in a full-screen player.

If a video can't be loaded, the conversation shows Failed to load the video in its place.

FAQ

Can I send videos to guests on Booking.com, Vrbo or other channels?

No. Airbnb is the only channel that accepts videos in guest messages. For other channels, the message box accepts photos only (JPG or PNG).

Why was my video rejected?

The video is most likely larger than 100 MB, longer than 60 seconds, or not an MP4 or MOV file. It's also rejected if the message already has a video attached.
