What image file types can I upload to Host Tools?

Host Tools accepts PNG and JPEG image files across message rules, quick replies, listing photos, your profile picture, direct booking logos, and guest ID photos — and what happens if you upload another format.

Summary

Host Tools accepts PNG and JPEG image files. These are the formats that reliably display across every connected channel, so any image you upload — whether it's a photo in an automated message, a listing image, or your profile picture — needs to be a PNG or JPEG.

Where you can upload images

You can add images in several places across Host Tools. The PNG/JPEG requirement applies to all of them:

  • Message rules — images attached to your automated messages.

  • Quick replies — images attached to a saved reply in the Inbox.

  • Listing photos — images you upload to a listing.

  • Profile picture — your account avatar.

  • Direct booking logo — the logo shown on your direct booking site.

  • Guest ID photos — the identity images guests upload when booking through your direct booking site.

Supported formats

Host Tools supports two image formats:

  • PNG (.png)

  • JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg)

Other formats — such as GIF, TIFF, or WebP — aren't supported.

⚠️ Tip: If your image is in another format, open it in any photo editor and save or export it as a PNG or JPEG before uploading.

What happens if I upload a different format?

If you choose a file that isn't a PNG or JPEG, Host Tools rejects it as you upload and lets you know the format isn't supported, so you can pick a different file.

If you had already attached an unsupported image (for example a GIF) to an automated message in the past, that message now sends as text only — it still goes out to your guest on schedule, just without the image. Re-attach a PNG or JPEG version if you want the image included.
