Summary
A declined card does not stop your automation straight away. Host Tools emails you while there is still time to fix it, and again if the subscription is eventually cancelled, so you always know what has happened and what to do about it.
The warning email
When a payment is declined, it is retried automatically over the following days. After the first retry fails, and while another attempt is still scheduled, you get an email titled Action needed: your Host Tools payment failed, and sync will stop soon.
It tells you the amount that was declined, the date of the next attempt, and gives you a link to pay the open invoice or update your card. You get this email once for each unpaid invoice, so the retries will not fill your inbox.
If the subscription is cancelled
If the retries run out, the subscription is cancelled and Host Tools stops syncing. You get an email titled Your Host Tools subscription was cancelled and sync has stopped, naming the channels your listings are connected to and what has stopped:
Calendar and availability changes are no longer pushed to your channels, so double bookings are possible.
Prices are no longer updated.
Automated guest messages are no longer sent.
⚠️ Your listings stay live on your channels while the subscription is cancelled. Because their calendars are no longer kept in sync, a date booked on one channel stays open on the others.
Restoring your sync
Click your profile picture when logged into Host Tools.
Go to Subscription in the menu on the left.
Add a working card and resubscribe.
