How do I create a calendar rule that repeats every year?

Use the Same Dates Every Year and Nth Weekday of a Month rule types to set holiday and seasonal calendar rules once.

Written by Tom Krones

Summary

Two calendar rule types repeat on their own every year, so a holiday rule you set up once keeps working without new dates each season:

  • Same Dates Every Year — the same calendar dates each year, such as December 20 through January 5.

  • Nth Weekday of a Month — a weekday that moves each year, such as the 4th Thursday of November, plus up to 14 days before and after it.

Both work like any other calendar rule: you can change prices, set minimum nights, block dates and more, and use them in rule groups and templates.

Creating a rule for the same dates every year

  1. Click Pricing in the header menu and choose the listing.

  2. Click Add Rule.

  3. In Rule Type, choose Same Dates Every Year.

  4. Pick the month and day the rule starts (From) and the month and day it ends (through). Both days are included. For a single night, pick the same start and end day.

  5. Set what the rule should do, for example raise the price by 40%.

  6. Click Save.

A range can run over New Year. December 20 through January 5 covers the end of one year and the start of the next. A rule that includes February 29 uses February 28 in years without a leap day.

Creating a rule for a weekday that moves each year

  1. Click Pricing in the header menu and choose the listing.

  2. Click Add Rule.

  3. In Rule Type, choose Nth Weekday of a Month.

  4. Pick which one (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or Last), the weekday, and the month. Choose Every month to repeat it monthly.

  5. Under Also include, enter how many days before and days after to cover, up to 14 each. For a Thanksgiving weekend, pick the 4th Thursday of November with 1 day before and 3 days after.

  6. Set what the rule should do and click Save.

Checking the dates

Under the dates, the form shows when the rule next applies, for example Next: Wed, Nov 25 2026 – Sun, Nov 29 2026 (5 nights). The rule also gets a title made from its dates, which you can change.

💡 If you switch an existing Date Range rule to Same Dates Every Year, its start and end dates are filled in for you.

Holiday templates

When you add a rule, the templates include yearly holiday rules you can start from: Holiday Season Premium (December 20 through January 5), New Year's Eve Premium (December 30 through January 1) and Thanksgiving Weekend Premium (the 4th Thursday of November, from the day before to three days after). Adjust the amount before you save.

FAQ

Do I need to update the rule every year?

No. The rule finds the right dates for each year on its own.

Can I use these rules in a rule group?

Yes. A yearly rule in a group applies to the same calendar days on every listing in the group.

Can a rule follow a holiday like Easter?

Not yet. Use a Date Range rule for holidays whose dates follow a different pattern.
