Why does my listing say it's missing a currency?

What the Missing currency warning means and how to set a listing's currency

Written by Tom Krones

Every listing needs a currency so Host Tools can record the amounts on its reservations. Some channels don't share a listing's currency when it's imported (VRBO doesn't for some units, for example), so the listing comes in without one. Host Tools doesn't guess a currency: it asks you to set it instead.

Until you set a currency, the amounts on that listing's reservations aren't recorded. As soon as you set one, its accepted reservations are recorded, including the ones that came in before.

Where you'll see the warning

  • A Missing currency badge on the listing in your listings list. Click it to go straight to the listing's Content page.

  • An alert at the top of the listing's Pricing & Restrictions settings, with a Set currency button.

  • A banner across the top of Host Tools saying how many listings are missing a currency. Its Set currency button opens the first of them. The banner can't be dismissed; it goes away once every enabled listing has a currency.

How to set a listing's currency

  1. Click Set currency on the banner or alert, or click the Missing currency badge on the listing.

  2. On the listing's Content page, open the Property Details tab.

  3. Under Basic Info, choose the listing's currency in the Currency field and save.

💡 Pick the currency your channels pay you in for this listing, the same one you see on the listing in Airbnb, VRBO or Booking.com.

FAQ

Do messaging-only listings need a currency?

No. A listing you use only for messaging doesn't need a currency and never shows the warning.

Why does a disabled or hidden listing not show up in the banner?

The banner only counts listings that are enabled and not hidden. Set a currency on a disabled listing before you enable it.
